            ETHANOL
            ....................................................................................................................

We produce alcohol from the molasses (Molasses is the brown coloured residue after sugar has been extracted from the juice. Molasses still contains some quantity of sugar, but this sugar cannot be extracted by usual technology) left after the extraction of sugarcane juice, which can be used both for potable purpose as well as an Industrial chemical. Further this alcohol can be again purified to produce fuel grade ethanol that can be blended with petrol. For SY 2008-09, SRSL has distillery capacity of 900 KLPD (600 KLPD – From Molasses to Ethanol and 300 KLPD – From rectified spirit to Ethanol), which will increase to 1,230 KLPD in SY 2009-10.
